The Cinema of Wes Anderson
edited by myself out of my anticipation for Moonrise Kingdom.
Artist: Harry Chapin
Summary: In the beginning, there was Sherlock Holmes. And Holmes brought forth the brilliant doctor House, embodied by the lovely Hugh Laurie. Who prior to that in Fortysomething played a slightly less brilliant doctor, Paul Slippery, who begat three sons, the eldest of which was played by the equally-lovely-if-somewhat-peculiarly-named Benedict Cumberbatch. Who of course grew up to play Sherlock. And the Universe looked upon its work and pronounced it good. And then my head exploded.
Somebody That I Used to Know cover - Walk off the Earth
This video’s got 95 Million views on YouTube already and I know I’m so late reaction about it but OH MY GOODNESS I just had to share it here.
Seriously, world. This cover is mad. This band is ridiculous. And also, they were adorable on Ellen.
This is one of the coolest things I’ve seen. The artist is named Amy Shackleton and she uses no brushes at all to create her works of art. She just uses squeeze bottles and manipulating the position of the canvas to create her art.
“L’Odyssee de Cartier” by Bruno Aveillan, a stunning commercial for the brand.

An ad spot for The Guardian takes the fairy tale The Three Little Pigs and shows how it would play out in the 21st century with the main stream media descending, news pundits putting in their two cents, digital recreations of the crime scene being created alongside conspiracy theories, and of course people from all over the world tweeting and voting and commenting on it via social media. The result is a fascinating view into how our culture devours news stories (in a wolf like manner) and uses those same stories to mirror ourselves (like a vain evil queen) as we personalize and internalize these issues. The climax is viewing this news coverage as a call to arms to protect out own (like valiant princes everywhere) and by extension ourselves. How the happily ever after eventually comes about has yet to be seen.
A mysterious island. An abandoned orphanage. And a strange collection of very curious photographs. It all waits to be discovered in Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, an unforgettable novel that mixes fiction and photography in a thrilling reading experience.
This is probably one of the best book trailers I’ve ever seen. It’s written and directed by Ransom Riggs himself.
UPDATE! Rumor has it that Tim Burton is in early talks of directing a movie adaptation of this book! :)
